Check Your Preparation

You’re having a dinner party Friday night. Your guests will arrive at 6:00 p.m.
When do you begin thinking about your evening? What will your guests be eating? What
will the centerpiece look like? How do you want your guests to feel when they step
through the door? How do you want them to feel when they gather their coats to leave?
You have sacrificed so much time, energy, emotion, and creativity to make your
guests feel important. They only see the results, not the pain of preparation!
King David says in 1 Chronicles 21:24, “I insist on paying the full price. I will not
take for the Lord what is yours, or sacrifice a burnt offering that costs me nothing.” As you
prepare to meet your class this week, honor them with your preparation. Think what God
will say when he sees your sacrifice as you do your work heartily for the Lord!

Quote for Today

“Prepare your hearts for Death’s cold hand! prepare
Your souls for flight, your bodies for the earth;
Prepare your arms for glorious victory;
Prepare your eyes to meet a holy God!
Prepare, prepare!”
—William Blake (A War Song to Englishmen)

Scripture for Today

“See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring
you to the place I have prepared” (Exodus 23:20).
